Bits and Bobs

News | Posted: 02/04/08

Haven't done an update in a while so here goes...

Doves band are in the studio at the moment, mixing some bits and writing some more bits. What we've heard is pretty bloody awesome, expect some movement in a few months, not sure when the album will be out though...

Beggars are doing the mother of all tours with Joe Lean and etc etc - I've managed to type in half the dates, there are loads more, when I my fingers start working again I'll do the rest. There should be a single out to coincide with the dates, there's also a free download over at their Myspace site. The band are doing a series of club shows in London over the next few weeks - check them at the Arts Theatre in Soho (I have a horrible feeling that's the one underneath our office...) on the 7th and 16th April and the at Macbeth in Hoxton on the 18th.

Jaymay plays a series of previously listed dates - her album came out in the States the other week, picking up crazy press...

Edwyn Collins - we've been cooking up something pretty amazing with the next Edwyn single - we should be ready to announce that pretty soon on here, it's about as ambitious a plan as we've ever concocted, although it's actually the simplest and most exciting one... think original Postcard 7" meets Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

There's a Vines best of out at the end of the month, it's all the best tracks from their first three albums in one gonzo package. It's fucking ace too. Underrated as hell, their fourth album is due out at the end of the summer and it's bloody fantastic (we've just heard it).

The Little Ones' album is ready to roll and due out within the next couple of months - they are on a mammoth US tour at the moment - check their Myspace for full details.

In case you didn't know, it's our 18th year this year. We kissed goodbye to an old friend (er...) the other day, when Turnmills shut it's doors for the last time - throwing a huge party like that got us to thinking we really must do something for our 18th. You know, get pissed, snog all the wrong people, puke somewhere inappropriate, play music way too loud - just like your real 18th. So we've been talking to various people, Heavenly bands old and new, venues, DJs, etc etc with an eye to something big at the end of the summer. More news when we have it. Will be ace though...
